What Are Blue Zones?
"Blue Zones" is the name given by National Geographic researcher Dan Buettner to five regions of the world where people live the longest and healthiest lives — with low rates of chronic disease and dementia.
The Five Blue Zones
| Blue Zone | Location | Feature |
| Sardinia | Italy | Highest male centenarian density |
| Okinawa | Japan | Longest-living female population |
| Nicoya | Costa Rica | "Plan de vida" origin |
| Ikaria | Greece | Lowest dementia rate |
| Loma Linda | USA | 10 years longer than average |

Jiaoling vs. the Five Blue Zones
| Dimension | Jiaoling · Sanzhen | Blue Zones |
| Move Naturally | Lifelong farm labor | Shepherds walking 8km daily |
| Purpose | Family responsibility | Ikigai / plan de vida |
| Downshift | Mountains, tea, sitting by the river | Napping, evening wine |
| Plant Slant | Selenium-rich vegetables, rice | Bean-based diet |
| Loved Ones First | Multigenerational living | Three-generation households |

Jiaoling is not a "Blue Zone" waiting to be discovered. It already is one. It just hasn't been seen by the world yet.
